safety at the forefront
Laying flooring may well not be the biggest risk on site, nonetheless, we have a proactive attitude to health and safety – consistently putting it right at the forefront of everything we do. This makes sure that as well as getting the job done perfectly and on time, we get it done safely too.
Our contracts managers are responsible for health and safety on site. They make sure that the areas our teams are working in are completely safe – carrying out regular tool box talks and strictly enforcing the wearing of appropriate PPE to meet site rules and task-specific risk assessments. We look to use non-hazardous materials in every instance, and will often request specification changes if a toxic adhesive or product has been specified by the client or architect. All site staff and operatives are trained in safe working practices and carry CSCS cards.
We have a dedicated safety team that operate on site across all of our projects providing visible support to all manager, fitters and clients.
Our head of safety has developed a CITB approved supervisor safety academy, that ensures that all supervisors have safety at the forefront when carrying out tasks.
The Loughton Contracts Safety Academy, our in-house Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) approved centre that provides training courses for our staff and supply chain continues to grow and strengthen. The academy offers the following courses: Health & Safety Awareness (HSA), Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS), Site Management Training Scheme (SMSTS) & Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS). We remain the only flooring contractor within the UK to have this facility.
